ABOUT BE A TIDY KIWI
91.8% of Kiwis recognise our brand
Be a Tidy Kiwi (BATK) is an iconic Kiwi brand that unifies New Zealanders as kaitiaki or guardians. Be a Tidy Kiwi was created in the 1960’S as an anti-litter campaign but with the introduction of recycling in the 1970’s embraced the movement to “get Kiwis to dispose of their waste” responsibly.
Tidy Kiwi (TK) was born in the late 1960’s at a time when tossing your takeaways out of the car window was the normal thing to do. Kiwis and tourists alike have embraced TK – unifying all of us as kaitiaki and giving birth to New Zealand’s clean green identity.
Be a Tidy Kiwi has worked tirelessly across the litter and packaging industry, local Government and Central Government, NGOs, schools, sports clubs and community groups. It is not a lobby group but brings together well-meaning passionate kaitiaki in a collaborative way in order to help change behaviour.
Be a Tidy Kiwi is well placed to be the Community partner driving collaboration between councils, brand owners and retailers, NGOs, the waste industry and the education sector in the development of recycling and waste solutions for Aotearoa.
